Our Story
John Walker, Ken Stamps, and Sam Walker, three successful businessmen who were seeking a new challenge, formed Navitat Canopy Adventures with a goal of creating a truly world-class, tree-based adventure company.
They created the concept of Navitat in the fall of 2008, bringing powerful leadership skills to the table. John, the owner of Bonsai Design, Inc., has years of expertise as the premier canopy tour designer and installer in the U.S. Ken brings nearly three decades of project management and organizational skills, and Sam offers skilled finance and legal expertise.
As the idea took off, these men turned to family members and other experts in the industry to compile a dynamic team committed to creating and growing a company focused on world-class canopy tour and tree-based adventure experiences.
In April 2009 Dylan Burt joined the partnership group, bringing deep operational expertise to the team. Dylan operated three canopy tours in Alaska that were designed and constructed by Bonsai Design.
Navitat's first location, in the Blue Ridge Mountains just north of Asheville, North Carolina, opened to the public on May 15, 2010.
From the start, the Navitat partners had a goal of creating multiple tours in various world-class locations throughout the country. In the late fall of 2010, an opportunity in Southern California, in the San Gabriel Mountains just outside of Los Angeles, caught their attention and quickly came to life.
Evan Krogh, formerly Course Manager for Navitat Asheville, became a partner in the business, relocated to California, and now manages Navitat Wrightwood, which opened to the public on July 1, 2011.
Now with two successful locations, one east and one west, the Navitat story is just beginning.
