Canopy Guides

Current Opening: Canopy Guide for Navitat Canopy Adventures

Definition: A Canopy Guide provides customer service, instructs and leads participant groups on the canopy tour.

Note: We are looking for Outdoor Professionals with proficiencies in Leadership, Team Work, Risk Management, Wilderness Experience, Local Area Expertise and Outstanding Customer Service. Candidates should expect to work closely with a team of other Outdoor Professionals in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Summary of essential job functions:
• Provides excellent customer service to all guests of Navitat Canopy Adventures
• Creates an enriching experience for participants by promoting environmental literacy and deepening people’s appreciation of the area
• Engages guests with local ecology, geography, geology, history and culture.
• Ensures all course operations are conducted in accordance with Navitat Canopy Adventures safety standards
• Completes an inspection of all course components and of all course gear daily
• Fits harnesses and helmets correctly and supervises the use of all personal protective equipment
• Conducts participant orientation session and pre-screening
• Successfully completes 100 hours of in-house, technical and interpretive training before hire
• Attends regular, ongoing technical and interpretive training throughout the season
• Performs other tasks on an as needed basis

Qualifications:
• At least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Guiding experience in adventure tours preferred
• Strong understanding of local ecology and history
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
• Ability to communicate and work as an effective team member
• Ability to work long hours and irregular shifts in a multi task environment
• Must have strong risk management experience
• Must speak fluent English (bilingual abilities are a plus)


Physical abilities required:
• Must be able to perform work at heights
• Must have full range of overhead arm motions
• Must be able to perform all technical rescue associated with the canopy tour
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Must be able to speak in front of large groups
• This position may require walking/standing/hiking for long periods of time

Job specifics:
• Compensation will be commensurate with experience and ability
• The hiring process begins in February, training begins in March

Current Opening: Sales Guide for Navitat Canopy Adventures

Definition: A Sales Guide serves as a reservations agent for canopy tours and a sales clerk for store transactions.

Note: All candidates must share our philosophy of excellent customer service, risk management and sustainable practices. Applicants must have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and outstanding communication skills.

Summary of essential job functions:
• Greets all Navitat guests and handles reservations software
• Pre-screens all Navitat guests and informs them of safety concerns
• Handles reservations phone calls and acts as company booking agent
• Acts as Navitat sales clerk
• Operates Point Of Sale register for store items
• Maintains store inventory according to Navitat operational procedures
• Monitors all guest questions and concerns
• Performs other tasks on an as needed basis
• Provides excellent customer service to all guests of Navitat Canopy Adventures

Qualifications:
• Front Desk or Retail experience required
• Experience with reservations software required
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Ability to work long hours and irregular shifts in a multi task environment
• Ability to speak in front of large groups
• Must speak fluent English (bilingual abilities are a plus)

 Driver Guides


Current Opening: Driver Guide for Navitat Canopy Adventures

Definition: A Driver guide is responsible for the safe and timely transport of Navitat staff and guests, as well as the maintenance of all Navitat vehicles and roads.

Note: All candidates must share our philosophy of excellent customer service, risk management and sustainable practices. Applicants must have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and outstanding communication skills.

Summary of essential job functions:
• Ensures all vehicle operations are conducted in accordance with Navitat operational procedures
• Provides excellent customer service to all Navitat guests
• Performs pre-departure safety speech and ensures the well-being of all persons on board the vehicle
• Performs pre-departure safety inspection of vehicles
• Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of all vehicles
• Maintains a maintenance log for all vehicles
• Performs other tasks on an as-needed basis

Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of utility and off-road vehicle maintenance procedures
• Previous experience driving utility and off-road vehicles
• Valid CDL with passenger endorsement
• Valid state driver’s license
• Current wilderness CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
• Strong risk management orientation
• Ability to work long hours and irregular shifts in a multi task environment
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must be able to speak in front of large groups
